What else do you need from me?I might be sick, broken, torn to pieces, so, whatever this is, this thing that now I've become,
Cambria snorted, ears flicked back as a snarl crept onto her pretty face. Her eyelids parted farther and farther until the whites of her eyes showed. Bloody hell, it's cold, she thought to herself, taking one tentative step forward into the frost-covered stream. The ice groaned as it took her massive weight, but it did not break. It was too far into winter for that. The mare padded gently and delicately across the once-babbling brook, now frozen in perpetual motion.
You hate it so much, you keep on running from it, No matter the distance, No matter how f a r . . .
Once safely across the treacherous ice, the Gypsy mare let out a big sigh of relief, clouding the air with her steamy breath. Tossing her mane so that her lengthy forelock could not obscure her vision, she padded on in search of some green forage. Damn this ice, she thought, upon noticing that there was nothing green for miles. Furrowing her brow, Cambria tilted her hips, resting one foot as she stood ankle-deep in the snow, her copious leg feathers shimmering with ice crystals. Her breath came in billows, the gentle breeze picking up her overlong mane and throwing it up on random currents of air. With a roll of her eyes, she thought, what a sight I must be now, all covered in snow and ice.
I buried this hurt, concealed in this heart Go lock all your doors, these cold steps will warm
And what a sight she was. Even in this weather, the mare was a beauty. Lifting her brows a bit, Cambria thanked the heavens that she had such long fur on her legs. I'm sure glad I'm not one of those hot-blooded, fancy-prancy little Arabs right now! She laughed to herself, a faint smile lighting her face. She knew most stallions liked those type of mares, with their graceful elegance and delicate features, but they didn't have what she had, true survival skills, strength, and toughness. As well as phenomenal beauty and hips to die for, she thought.

the world was as if it had been stuck in a freezer. icicles clung to every surface, as if icing a cake in delicious white frosting. the habitants of this godly place had seen it all before, the drizzles of flakes and thick blankets that chilled the ground. in this pine forest of a meadow, it was a forever winter wonderland. any equine to step foot instantly caught sight of their breath. rarely would you hear a bird sing, but often the soft patter of hoof through snow. may it be a deer or horse, it was a safe haven for them. the predators lurked only at the edges, waiting and hoping that none of them were idiots and would venture away toward the warmer lands.
except, one stallion was quite the idiot at this time. his hooves of black pounced through the drifts, sending sprays of snow in all direction. his masculine laughter split the ice cold air, send any birds flying. shorts cracks sounded as he would scuttle across thick ice. no water for him unless he dared to lick the ice and risk getting his tongue stuck. this place was his favorite so far, so much snow, so much fun. his body, splattered with its own snow pattern atop bay, was not thick, but he had warmed himself with a shaggy winter coat. brown eyes looked out from the shaggy face with a dazzling smile curling his lips.
stopping for a moments time, he breathed hard. large clouds curled away from his flared nostrils and around him, sending a veil of mystery to hide him. those brown eyes of his searched, for amidst play, he had smelt the tiniest hint of female. it was quite wet here, but there were many pines and it was just his luck to catch that tiny hint of smell. turning his head back and forth, his ears were flitting fervently. where could this dame be? his throat vibrated as his lips chattered a friendly call. where oh where could she be?
trotting with high knees, he wove his ways over and through the snow. peppered tail flapped heavily at his legs as he continuously snapped his head to the side to rid of a wet forelock.
"i must look terrible," he muttered to himself, chuckling a bit under his breath. in his mind, he still thought he was handsome enough and hoped this female would find him attractive too; for it was only moments until he caught sight of a dappled and tough built mare standing a ways away from him. stopping to admire, he let his whinny carry on the unforgiving wind once again. then, he approached through the snow and stopped a mere foot or two away from her. assessing her with those big brown eyes of hers, he was quite happy with what he saw. at least a hand taller than her, he couldn't help but grin from ear to ear at her.
"good afternoon miss," he nodded his head toward her, like a true gentleman.
"my name is shawshank and might i be graced this lovely winter with your name?" he spoke in a kind, masculine voice, it was deep, but not intimidating; smooth and calmly, some might say. he looked at her with interest, all senses alert toward her and her every reaction, her every move. yes, shawshank was quite the ladies man.

[ooc// ok, I'm gonna TRY to write a post using my phone. We'll see how this goes. It might be on the short side. Don't want my phone to die.
Cambria watched as a solitary snowflake drifted down from the heavens and landed on her pink velvet nose, right between her quiverin nostrils. She blinked, crossing her eyes to watch the snowflake melt upon meeting the warmth of her skin. It was then that she scented it. Stallion, and not too far away. This should be fun, she thought, a devilish grin flickering across her face for a brief moment, before her fceatures settled back into a passive expression. Soon after this thought crossed her mind, she heard him whinny loudly. He's getting closer...
Answering the call with a sweet nicker of her own, the mare pranced in place, anticipation and sheer instinct making her whole body tingle pleasurably. Tossing her large head, she sent a cascade of long white tresses to dance upon the air, while a flurry of snowflakes fluttered away from the wildly moving strands. A few moments later, the stallion appeared, his deep bay coat covered with snow and his long black mane tangled with ice crystals. He was a large brute, but not as large as the males of her own breed, the noble gypsies. But Cam was a bit on the small side, only about 16 hands and 1100 pounds. She could tell he was bigger than she, and it pleased her greatly, although she as of heavier build and thicker bone structue than he, a gift from her draft bloodlines.
At his polite greeting, she smiled sweetly. "Well met Shawshank. I am called Cambria." She dipped her muzzle slightly, inclining her head in a greeting tha was polite, but not submissive. Cambria was the type of mare that would nev ller show submission, no matter how large the confronting stallion was.

his body shivered in delight as the wind carried her voice toward him. it was sweet and delicious, music to his very ears. the winter wonderland around them spurred a feeling inside of him, a sense of joy and amazement. his scenery was quite a beauty, including her. her muscular body made his body rigid, excited. the dappling of her grey coat was a sight to be seen, not like all the other mares that were solid colored. her body structure too was a change, a nice change. he liked that she was of bigger build, but then again, what mare didn't he like?
noticing her friendly nature and inclination of her head made him shake and nod his head back. he could tell that she was bold and strong willed. to shaw, this one would be most likely more of a challenge to flirt with. flicking his head back to once again get rid of his sliding forelock, his big brown eyes watched her gently. he had to pick his words correctly or she might find him rude or offensive.
"it sure is a pleasure to meet you, cambria," he smiled softly at her, a flirtatious twinkle in his eyes. shifting his weight and kneading his hooves into the snow a bit, he could feel the change in the air. the wind was dying down, a light flutter across his cheeks, it felt warmer. the sun peeked through the clouds, greeting them both with a grin of promise. did this mean summer was on its way? the thought of spring warmed his winter chilled heart. spring meant more females, more challenges, more hope of finding friends and flings.
sighing, he pulled himself out of his reverie and collected his thoughts. how would he go about flirting or just even talking with this beauty? "might i ask how you are doing on this fine, chilly day?" he hoped she was up for conversation, shaw didn't want to cut straight to anything intimate just yet. cambria looked promising, as if there was something more than just being a mare to flirt with.

Cambria watched the movement of his eyes as they first met her gaze, then traveled along the curvature of her body. With a smirk, she shifted her weight, tossing unruly white tresses out of her eyes once again. This stallion seemed courteous, but one could never be too careful. She knew not to blindly trust any male. That's the first lesson a filly learns in life. Still, it was prudent to be polite and seem interested.
Cam had learned how to act the part, pretending to be enthralled in anything a stallion had to say. But now she found herself not having to act. There was something about this male; something honest and true, if not a bit rowdy and youthful. Usually this would annoy her, but in him, she found it attractive. She could tell, by his carefree demeanor, that he was a bit younger than she, but, surprisingly, it didn't bother her. She could protect herself, she didn't need an aging stallion to keep her safe. This youngster, with his sparkling brown eyes and equally sparkling personality, made her feel carefree and youthful too.
"And, I must say, Shawshank, it is indeed a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well." And then she smiled; a real, genuine smile, not one of those half-assed polite smiles that mares hand out a hundred times a day. No, this was the real thing, and it was the first time Cambria had smiled like that for a long time. Suddenly, her delight at meeting such a genuinely nice male overwhelmed her, adding to the excitement of a cold winter's morning.
As he asked his next question, the gypsy mare gave him a devilish grin, and, in response to the query, she tossed her lengthy mane and took off at a flat out gallop, which was not as fast as a smaller horse's run, but was far more powerful, her feet thudding in the snow like giant mallets. Happily, she kicked up her hind feet in a snow of joy, spraying powdery snow everywhere. She took a quick glance behind her and whinnied playfully at the stallion, inviting him to join her game.
Feeling a weight being lifted from her heart, Cambria found herself thinking, After so many years of wandering on my own, I finally feel free. Maybe this is the start of something more than fun and games... And so the mare squealed in delight, as mares often do, and played in the snow for the first time in her life.

he smiled in pure delight. oh how this mare was a beauty! he had to holds himself back from showing too much enjoyment and excitement. there was something about this mare that made him all warm and tingly inside.
shaw could tell that the smile she graced him with was pure, true. it made him feel great inside, for once, it made his heart swell. he didn't know what it was about this mare, but she was different and it made him feel great. the devilish smile on his face almost made his jaw drop. he waited for her words, for her to reply to his question.
instead, he watched as she picked up her hooves and hightailed it away from him. confusion crossed his face for a few moments, but as the spray of snow wiped away, he realized she wanted to play. a bigger smile curled his lips as his ears followed her path. he stood still, watching for a few moments, waiting to see what she would do.
when she stopped, whinnied and looked back at him with a look of happiness on her face, he knew he should follow. kicking up his hooves and pumping his legs, he quickly galloped toward her. the thudding of his hooves against hard ground, the splatter of white whipped along his body felt great in the warmth of his happiness. his mane flew out behind him, his tail stung at his legs.
following in her path of snow, it was easy to catch up to her. letting loose a thunderous neigh, he lifted up his front hooves and pawed at the air in a playful manner. his eyes were aflame with play as he kept them on the beauty he had just met. getting closer, he playfully snapped at her side, turning away and galloping in a wide circle. would she play back or find it rude?
it was a new thing for him to worry what mares really thought of him, but then again, she was different. she made him feel more carefree, but also more cautious than any other horse had ever made him feel. releasing a nicker from his throat, he invited her to come catch him. his eyes never left her, a challenge and game, complete happiness a permanent expression on his face.

She could hear his powerful hooves churning the snow beneath him as he followed her, and she felt a thrill of joy. For a second she had thought he would've just stood there staring at her, thinking she was silly. As he got closer, she spun around, just in time to watch him perform a graceful, yet powerful rear. He got so high that he was standing up completely vertical at the apex of his jump, his mane flapping wildly in the snowy wind. Impressed, she hopped a bit, but did not lift her body off the floor, thinking it improper for a mare to show her underbelly to a stallion in full view.
She twisted nimbly out of the way as he teeth came within inches from her pelt, although she knew he wouldn't have actually bitten her. She flattened her ears for a moment, hoping to confuse him into thinking she was offended. Then, with a scream of delight, she let loose a buck and scampered after him, sending flurries of snow dancing on the air in her wake. After a few more minutes of the cold air biting at her lungs, Cambria slowed down to a trot, her pink nostrils flaring wildly and a thin layer of sweat coating her fine dappled coat. Coming to a full stop, she padded slowly up to him, ears pricked.
"So, Shawshank, where do you make your home? Do you have a territory, or do you wander with the wind, like myself?"
The mare tilted her head, knowing that if he had a territory of his own, she would likely follow him there. She liked him, a lot, and she was sick and tired of being a vagabond. She yearned to have a place to rest her head and, hopefully one day, raise her offspring. What a fine father Shawshank would make, she thought, despite herself. Shaking her head to rid herself of such thoughts, Cambria blinked rapidly, awaiting the brute's reply.

only for a moment did he feel bad, a frown gently gracing his face. then, it disappeared, for he realized that she was only playing and a smile changed his features. for some reason, shaw liked this one more than he ever liked any others. he didn't know if it was the snow, the changing season, or just her attitude and take toward him. sighing, he whinnied to her, watching her every move. the lift of a hoove, the muscles beneath her hide pull and strain as she followed him.
pausing for a moment, the snow settled in a light powder around him. hoping she would see that he had stopped, he nodded his head, motioning her to come over.
intently, he watched her make her way over to him. his heart beat rapidly, the way she moved was so mesmerizing! shaking away the snow, he smiled gently at her as she stopped. her words flowed gently, like silk, into his ears. the questions she posed made him think. indeed, he had his own land, but he didn't want to seem like just another stallion trying to fill his treasure box. even though it made him thrive inside at the idea of filling his own treasure box of mares, he didn't want any of them hating him.
"since you mentioned it, i do own a land. i call it falling timbers, a place bright with fall and full of trees and life. i find it quite beautiful and you would definitely brighten the place up," he smiled softly, the thought of getting rid of his loneliness warmed his heart. "i would love for you to join me there," his eyes sparkled with hope, knowing that she would most likely follow him, even if he hadn't offered.
pawing with hooves to warm his slightly chilled body, he thought deeply about his feature. now, he had a mare to entertain him, but he still had to look for more. yet, he wanted to have an heir soon, in case of any accidents. breathing deeply, his eyes never left her, but he still worried that his herd would not thrive. maybe, cambria would help. maybe...
